My Story
What caused me to create this product was a fishing trip on the river for salmon in the state of Michigan. Ludington was the town and I was in the state park next to the dam. I fished for four hours and my daughter was with me, who was ten at the time. The weather was about 42 degrees and the air was damp.
All of a sudden, the line ripped off my reel and I knew I had a salmon. I grabbed my pole and the fight was on. In a matter of seconds the fish was all over the river, but I knew it wouldn’t get far. It jumped out of the water and swam the other direction. My daughter and I were both excited. I fought the fish for about 15 minutes, when suddenly my line snapped. Of course I was upset, but I knew I had to quickly restring my pole and get my line back in the water. My daughter helped by holding the new spool of line with her cold hands. I didn’t want to drop the new spool on the sandy, rocky banks of the river, so needless to say restringing my reel was very difficult for me.
I kept thinking there had to be a better way. This is when the idea of the restringing kit came to me. I thought about it for a while and then decided to draw it on paper. After three years, six prototypes were created. However, it didn’t work the way I pictured it in my head. Luckily I saved up enough money to where I could modify the product and ended up with two prototypes. It finally worked the way I envisioned it along the river bank. So there it is, I wanted to create more so others could have this nice tool for their tackle boxes.
By the way, I finally caught a salmon in front of the whole family. It was very exciting and not only did I come out of the river with a salmon, I came out with a new idea. I use it every time I need new line; it does everything I need it to do.
